When I first came to Bryn Mawr, I wished for a guide that had everything I needed to know about it. I have tried to create such a guide for you. I wanted the guide to include helpful information and tips that will get you through high school. Most importantly, I wanted to share a list of popular books that people read. I never expected that after four years, I would be the one to actually write the guide. With the help of Ms. Rickert-Wilbur and Ms.Hruban, and with permission from Ms.Budzik, I decided to create a guide for incoming International Students. The guide is consists of two parts: a Bryn Mawr Survival Guide and a book catalog. The first part probably makes sense, but why a book catalog? Well, throughout the years I realized that reading is one of the few things that can calm me down. It is also a great way to get to know the culture and gain perspective. For me, books are friends. They lend a shoulder to me when I’m in tears and cheer me up when I feel low. They are my mental support. I hope this guide can assist you even if it is just a little bit and that you will be able to find your friends in the book catalog. Finally, I would like to share one of my favorite quotations from the movie Shadowland (A film about C.S. Lewis):
“We read to know we’re not alone.”
Good Luck on your adventure at Bryn Mawr!
