School Traditions

Gym Drill & Banner March

A day where the entire school gathers together on the upper turf to perform ethnic dances (Mandatory!) in order to celebrate a variety of cultures. Everyone has to take a mandatory dance class throughout the year. The dances start in the afternoon but there will be a Bazaar (a little fair) in the morning that sells food, drinks and small items. There are games and rides too. The alumnae come back and watch us dance. Towards the end, we will do banner march, where the banner of each grade is passed on by class captain. It represents that you are moving up a grade.

Bell Ringing

This day marks the last day of school for the seniors before they go off and start doing their senior projects. Seniors will invite friends to ring bell in the library quad during lunch time.

Spirit Day

A tradition that aims to bond the community and celebrate Bryn Mawr pride. We typically have three Spirit Days in Fall, Winter and Spring. The Spirit Week is recently added by school-wide organization Atheletic Association (AA) as part of the spirit celebrating process. AA assigned a theme to each day of the week, and students need to wear cloth accordingly. (Of course, you don’t have to). On Spirit Day, Students wear green, yellow and white (school colors).During fifth period, the entire school gathered in the gym and do fun activities, such as faculty vs. student basketball game.  We will sing the Martian Song at the end.

Founder’s day

We gather in graduation garden in the morning to celebrate our five founders. Alumnae usually come to join us and some are invited to give a speech. We get founder’s cupcake(!)
